No picspam this time, but a bit of news. Wednesday night we noticed Hugo's chin was swollen, but other than that, he's shown no real symptoms. He's been roaming around the flat, eating and running in his wheel as if nothing was wrong - yesterday morning he'd also eaten his bowls empty. We got vet appointment for Tuesday, couldn't get one earlier and I really want to take him to this particular clinic because I've heard nothing but good of it when it comes to taking care of hedgehogs.

Couldn't get a better picture (click it bigger, btw) than this one:

It's not as bad anymore but I really want to get him checked as soon as possible. I wonder if it's a problem with his teeth, even though he's been eating fine? Ideas, tips, thoughts?!

EDITED TO ADD: We're gonna have to order a vet appointment tomorrow for Hugo. We noticed today that his chin is a bit swollen and given he's turning 2 years this month, I figure a health check can't do him harm anyways. Still, I'm slightly terrified - I wonder if he's got trouble with his teeth? :/ :( He's been eating okay, though. Have to remember to check his bowls tomorrow morning to see what's the case then.

A same sort of picspam can be found HERE, only the focus there is on Liquoricecaramel instead of Hugo :)

The same story applies; my little sister spent three nights with us and as you can see, she took some beautiful pictures of the boys (as usual). Drop a comment and make us happy ;D

Oh and yes! It's these days pretty difficult to try and take a picture without Rymy. He's ALWAYS there where happens, sigh!

The older post that I accidentally deleted:

Yet another picspam because they're my personal favorites :) The first few days after the move, and after Rymy arriving, Hugo was really confused and huffy. One night he didn't even eat - from that evening forward, we've placed him next to his bowl twice a night. Once when we fill the cricket bowl and then later again when we fill the "wetfood" bowl and it seems to have worked because yesterday Hugo went to eat the later served "dinner" all on his own. I suppose it's also partly Rymy's scent that has made him really huffy, at times, but at the same time he's been really adventurous and alert! When he's roaming around the floors, Rymy's presence doesn't seem to bother him that much... probably because Rymy is a little scared of the prickly ball and keeps his distance, which is why we're really not that worried about these two sharing a household.

Anyway, moving on. The first two rows are from the old place, everything after that from the new one. Enjoy!

Hey you guys! We've been away for a long time, once again, but that's only because most of our days have been revolving around our whippet puppy, teaching him how to behave and evenings around Hugo, in turn.

Lots has happened - like, some time ago we had to remove Hugo's wheel for a little while because it broke and hurt Hugo's feet. It actually took us a few times before we realized just WHAT was hurting his legs. The first time we noticed the cuts in three of his feet, we removed the litter box because we thought it was the source of problem. When it happened again, we realized it was the wheel - the wood had somehow given in, probably due the fact it gets washed quite often, and the actual wheel was moving wrong which probably cut his feet every time he stopped running and got off the bucket. We got a new wheel, but since it took us some time to get one, Hugo's weight got up to 550 g. You know our little one, he really isn't one to run around the flat even when given the chance. Well, sometimes he is, actually... Rymy's toys seem to be interesting, as well as our new carpet. Both boys love to chew it :D

Food-wise, Hugo has stopped eating shrimps and snails and crickets, at least if they've been frozen once. I've tried and tried and tried, but he simply refuses and because I can't let the little one go hungry for weeks and weeks, I've had to modify our diet. These days our "base food" is groundmeat and heat dried crickets as well as mealworms. He also likes cooked peats, carrots and basically almost everything that has been cooked, so we're going with those (as well as with everything in our LIKE list that still goes down, of course!). I'm hoping we'll get more cockroaches soon because I really want to keep those in his diet - now that ours are too small and we haven't yet ordered more, I've been giving him a few cat kibbles (we're eating Orijen these days) every day just to help keep his teeth healthier.

And for those who're curious to see what our evenings are like now that we have a hedgehog and a dog under the same roof, this is for you:

"What, no, of course I'm not eating the carpet - it was Rymy!"

"Dude, do you have to stick your nose everywhere?"

Oh and! Because I'm an idiot and the keyboard of this new laptop just won't sink in, I accidentally deleted the previous (The SLIGHTLY curious george PICSPAM;) post... I shall repost it after this entry, ahem.
